Social Events

February Valentine's Day Dress-up Tea: Enjoy live jazz piano and open mike in the Penthouse, with little sandwiches, fresh scones and other elegant treats. In 2010, we are featuring a "Hat Parade" -- everything from "go-to- meetin" to backward baseball caps! Black History Month events include a field trip to NAAM (Northwest African American Museum), a lobby display of books and documents loaned by residents, and a resident-led story circle. May International Potluck in the Penthouse: In Spring 2008, and Fall 2009, our featured guest, Mohammed Aden, Director of Muslim Housing Services, described his agency's social services, and presented a slide show about the work of Global Poverty Network to provide clean water in East Africa. August National Night Out Against Crime is celebrated with a fabulous potluck dinner, live music and sweet summer breezes on our Rose Patio. Rainier Valley Heritage Festival Parade: Interested residents march with pride down Rainier Avenue in Columbia City.

2009: Celebrating Ten Years In September 2009, Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation celebrated ten years of successful operation of The Brighton with a festive dinner honoring our wonderful Board of Directors and the generous donors who help support our mission.

Fall We look forward to our annual all-ages harvest events, our annual cakewalk, Thanksgiving potluck dinner, holiday crafts and music party and more!
