Volunteer Opportunities
Our staff is responsible for the day to day operations of the building. From marketing, fundraising, maintenance, housekeeping, communications and activities, we do our best to provide a comfortable, clean and secure building for our residents.
Curtis Brown, Executive Director
Curtis brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management to SSSF and The Brighton. He has trained over 500 nonprofit organizations on innovative managment practices; more than 10,000 people have downloaded his reports and articles. He earned his MBA from Easter University in St. Davids, PA.
Curtis joined The Brighton staff in December 2010. Active in many community organizations, Curtis is thrilled to be working for the well-being of seniors in his own neighborhood.
Pearl McCauley, Resident Manager
Pearl has been managing affordable housing projects for more than 20 years. She was hired by the Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation in July 1999 when they purchase The Brighton. As Resident Manager of The Brighton, Pearl is the first person guests and new residents meet. Pearl lives at The Brighton and provides the 24/7 management that plays a big role in the building's success. An expert at project planning, Pearl makes sure apartments are ready for new residents, and that capital improvements happen on schedule.
Deb Figen, Resident Outreach Coordinator
Deb joined the staff at The Brighton in October 2007. She staffs the Resident Outreach Committee and works with the committee to develop and organize year-round programming and events for the residents. Deb, a professional graphic designer, has greatly improved the look, content and effectiveness of our communication and outreach materials.
Linda Lubow, CPA
The SSSF’s CPA, Linda has been at The Brighton since July 1999. Her expertise and guidance has ensured that financial compliance and reporting is accurate. Our auditors over the years have consistently praised Linda for her expert financial skills.
Mario Siu-Chang, Maintenance Manager
Mario was The Brighton maintenance person in 1999 when SSSF purchased the building. His knowledge of the building is indispensable. His dedication to the building and the residents carries through in all his work. Mario is on call 24/7 for emergencies.
Haile K., Housekeeping
Haile is our newest staff member. Born in Ethiopia, Haile was raised in Germany and moved to Seattle in 2008. In addition to being a good-natured and efficient worker, he speaks English, Amharic, Spanish and German!
Juana Porras, Housekeeping
On staff since July 1999, Juana maintains high standards of cleanliness in all common areas and on the grounds. Often faced with difficult tasks, Juana's good spirits always shine through.
